COCONUT FLOUR BREAD

Learn how to make this keto bread with coconut flour that’s actually fantastic, sliceable, and delicious toasted and topped with butter.

I created this gluten-free, incredibly easy to make coconut flour bread for everyone asking can you make bread with coconut flour? Although I already have a highly popular almond flour bread recipe on the blog, it is not suitable for individuals with nut allergies.

As you may already know, almond flour and coconut flour have different properties, and you can’t simply use one as a replacement for the other without adjusting the recipe’s ingredients.

I love making my egg-free keto white bread or cloud bread for sandwiches, but this simple coconut flour bread recipe is perfect for everyone with a nut allergy.

Why You’ll Love This Easy Coconut Flour Bread Recipe

  • Loaded with fiber. This bread recipe is high in fiber and keeps you full for hours.
  • Nut-free: Coconut flour is nut-free, so it’s an ideal option for people with nut allergies who are looking for a low-carb bread alternative.
  • Completely gluten-free: Unlike traditional bread, this coconut flour bread is gluten-free.

One of the things we absolutely love about this recipe is how closely it resembles the taste and texture of traditional white sandwich bread, despite the fact that it is made with coconut flour. You might be surprised to find that the coconut flavor is not overpowering at all!

 Is Coconut Flour Keto Friendly?

Yes, low carb bread with coconut flour is an excellent keto alternative whether you need a gluten-free recipe or a low-carb option. Coconut flour is cheaper than almond flour, and it’s made from dried and ground coconut flesh.

Coconut Flour provides 4 grams of net carbs for two tablespoons, and I love to use it in keto baked goods because it absorbs moisture really well. The taste is mild, so if you’re worried this bread will taste like coconut, you can barely taste it in the final product.

This bread tastes wonderful, contains no grains or sugar, and is simple to make. Furthermore, it makes use of commonly available ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen.

Whatever the reason you’re giving up regular wheat bread, it’s only when you can’t have it that you realize how many things you need bread for. The bread serves as the foundation for basic meal ideas, side dishes, toppings such as bread crumbs, and the base for some of our favorite Thanksgiving meals, such as turkey and stuffing.

With my coconut flour bread, you can have all of these things without the carbs.

It’s also an excellent alternative to keto almond flour bread for people who are allergic to nuts!

Ingredients You’ll Need

If you love coconut flour, then this quick and easy keto coconut flour bread is perfect for you. Here are all the ingredients you’ll need:

  • Coconut Flour – This nut-free and gluten-free flour is made entirely of dried and powdered coconut flesh. A little goes a long way with coconut flour since it absorbs moisture and swells a lot!
  • Eggs – This recipe calls for 8 large eggs since the coconut flour absorbs a lot of moisture, so the eggs help everything bind together. Make sure to use room temperature eggs to avoid that eggy flavor.
  • Cream Cheese – if you want paleo coconut flour bread, you can replace the cream cheese with coconut cream. It adds a little coconutty sweetness to the bread.
  • Butter – Without a good quantity of fat in the mix, coconut flour recipes might taste dry; this is where butter comes in. Refined coconut oil it’s an excellent replacement for butter in this recipe, so feel free to use it.
  • Baking Powder – The baking powder helps give the bread a super fluffy wheat-like texture.

How to Make Coconut Flour Bread?

Learn how to make bread with coconut flour using just a few ingredients and just one bowl:

Preheat the oven to 350F/ 180C and line a small loaf pan with parchment paper.

Preparing The Batter

In a large mixing bowl, add the eggs, melted butter, and cream cheese. Using an electric mixer, mix until frothy.

Add the coconut flour, baking powder, and salt, then mix again until just combined.

Baking Instructions

When you have a thickened batter, you can transfer the mixture into a loaf pan. I recommend greasing the pan or lining it with parchment paper.

The last thing you want is for your coconut flour sandwich bread to stick to the pan!

The bread takes around 45-50 minutes to bake. When the top is golden, and a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean, you know it’s done.

Tips For Making The Best Coconut Flour Bread

  • Make individual buns: To create tiny individual buns instead of a whole loaf of coconut bread, divide the dough for this coconut bread recipe between the holes of a muffin or bagel pan. Smooth the tops and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  • For a Sweeter Loaf: If you like a little sweeter loaf, you can add two teaspoons of honey.
  • The eggs and the cream cheese should be at room temperature. If your batter is cold, it can prevent the bread from rising.
  • Use fresh baking powder – Put a bit of gluten-free baking powder in a glass with warm or hot water to test the freshness. If it fizzes, then you have a fresh baking powder.

How To Store?

  • Refrigerator: Store the coconut flour bread in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Freezer: To freeze coconut flour bread, slice it and freeze the individual slices until they are solid. Then, transfer the frozen slices to a freezer-safe container for long-term storage. When you’re ready to enjoy a slice, simply pop it in the toaster straight from the freezer and toast until heated through.

Can I Freeze This Bread?

You certainly can! Wrap the loaf in plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for up to 2 months. Then, allow the bread to defrost in the refrigerator overnight before slicing. You may also reheat the bread slightly in the oven to eat it warm or toast the pieces as needed.

Recipe Variations

  • Get it to shine – Brush the top of the bread with an egg wash before baking for a glossy crust.
  • Top with sesame or poppy seeds, or add crushed sunflower seeds or flaxseed to the batter!
  • Dairy-free bread – To make this keto coconut bread dairy-free, replace the butter with olive oil and coconut oil. Ghee is another excellent alternative for people who prefer a buttery flavor without dairy. Ghee, or clarified butter, is lactose-free and simpler to digest for most people who cannot typically consume dairy.
  • As a keto dessert, add a little cinnamon and a touch of brown sugar replacement to the batter before baking. Then you can make amazing keto French toast.

Notes

The nutrition information is for one slice from 16 without any toppings.
Do not use baking soda instead of baking powder, and try not to use more than the amount listed in the recipe. Using more baking powder can give your bread an acidic taste and a green-tinted color. Luckily, it’s still okay to eat if you don’t care about the color.

    1. Eggs play a crucial role in providing structure and texture to the coconut flour bread, and therefore substituting them with flax eggs may not yield the same results. However, you can try substituting the eggs with flax eggs and see how the bread turns out.
