Ingredients for High-Protein Cottage Cheese Wrap

To make this easy and healthy cottage cheese wrap, you’ll need just a few ingredients:

Viral Cottage Cheese Wrap Ingredients
  • Cottage Cheese – Cottage cheese is the star here—it’s the creamy base that makes the wrap rich and smooth. It adds protein, which helps keep you full and satisfied, plus a mild, slightly tangy flavor that works perfectly with all the other savory ingredients.
  • Eggs – Eggs help bind the ingredients together while adding richness and protein to the wrap. They also contribute to the texture, giving the wrap structure and a slight fluffiness when cooked.
  • Parmesan Cheese – Opt for freshly grated Parmesan cheese over pre-shredded, as it will have more flavor and a finer texture. If possible, choose a high-quality, aged Parmigiano-Reggiano for the best flavor.
  • Garlic Powder – You can also use onion powder.
  • Italian Seasoning – You can use our recipe for homemade Italian seasoning or buy it from a store.

How To Make This Viral Cottage Cheese Wrap Recipe

This easy cottage cheese wrap is so easy to make that I make it ahead of time for those busy mornings since they require only a few minutes of prep. Here is everything you need to do:

Preheat The Oven

Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Make sure your oven has fully preheated before placing the baking sheet inside to ensure even cooking.

Prepare the Baking Sheet

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This prevents sticking and helps the flatbread come off easily once baked.

Tip: For easier cleanup, you can lightly spray the parchment paper with non-stick cooking spray.

Blend the Ingredients

In a blender or food processor, combine the cottage cheese, eggs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.

Preparing a high-protein wrap by blending cottage cheese, eggs, and seasonings in a food processor.

Blend until smooth—this should take about 45 seconds to 1 minute, depending on your blender or food processor’s strength.

Step-by-step process of making a viral cottage cheese wrap, starting with blending ingredients.

TipFor a creamier texture, use full-fat cottage cheese, but low-fat works just as well if you’re looking for a lighter option. Make sure the mixture is smooth with no lumps for the best result.

Spread the Mixture

Pour the blended mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.

Use a silicone spatula to spread it evenly into a thin layer. Try to get it as uniform as possible to ensure even baking.

Tip: If you want thicker flatbread, you can spread the mixture a little thicker, but keep in mind it may take longer to bake. For a crispier result, spread it thinner.

Bake the Flatbread

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven.

Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is set and slightly golden. Check around the 30-minute mark—depending on your oven, it may take up to 40 minutes for a perfect golden crust.

TipIf you want extra crispiness on the edges, broil for the last 2-3 minutes of baking, but watch closely to avoid burning.

Cool and Remove

Remove the flatbread from the oven and allow it to cool completely on the baking sheet. This helps it firm up and makes it easier to peel off the parchment paper.

TipLetting it cool for at least 10-15 minutes will ensure you get a firm, sliceable flatbread.

Peel the Flatbread

Gently peel the flatbread off the parchment paper. The flatbread should come off easily, but if it’s sticking, you can use a silicone spatula to gently loosen the edges.

Tip: If you used a lot of cheese, it may be a little sticky, but don’t worry—it’s still delicious!

Fill and Serve

Fill with your favorite toppings. Ideas include garlic spread, turkey, salami, tomatoes, spinach, marinated onions, or any other ingredients you love.

TipFor a warm, melty wrap, you can add your toppings and then return it to the oven for an extra 5 minutes to heat everything through.

Pro Tips for the Best Cottage Cheese Wrap

  • Use Full-Fat Cottage Cheese for Creaminess: While low-fat cottage cheese works, full-fat cottage cheese will give your wrap a richer, creamier texture and a more indulgent taste. It also helps the wrap hold together better.
  • Blend Smooth for the Best Texture: To get that perfect, cohesive wrap, blend your cottage cheese mixture until it’s completely smooth. If you’re into a more rustic feel, leaving it a bit chunky works too. But a smooth blend usually gives the best results.
  • Don’t Overbake: Overbaking can make your wrap dry and brittle. Bake until the top is set and golden, but don’t leave it in too long. You want the flatbread to have a slight softness inside with a crisp, golden exterior.
  • Spread the Mixture Evenly: For consistent baking, spread the mixture as evenly as possible on your baking sheet. A thinner layer will yield a crispier flatbread, while a thicker layer will result in something more soft and chewy. Aim for about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
  • Customize Your Flavor: Season to taste! If you like things spicy, try adding some red pepper flakes or chili powder. If you prefer a more herby vibe, consider fresh herbs like basil or thyme in place of (or alongside) the Italian seasoning.
  • Perfect for Meal Prep: Once the flatbread is cooled, you can wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave for a quick snack or meal.
  • Top It Right Before Serving: To keep your flatbread crisp and fresh, add toppings just before serving. This way, the flatbread won’t get soggy, and you can customize it however you like (turkey, veggies, spreads, etc.).
  • Experiment with Cheese Varieties: While Parmesan is classic, you can mix it up with other cheeses like mozzarella for a meltier, softer wrap, or Pecorino Romano for a sharper, more tangy taste.

How To Store

  • Cool Completely: Once your cottage cheese flatbread is baked and cooled, allow it to cool completely on a wire rack before storing. This prevents condensation, which can make the flatbread soggy.
  • Wrap Properly: Once cooled, wrap the flatbread tightly in parchment paper or plastic wrap. If you’re stacking multiple flatbreads, place a sheet of parchment paper between each to prevent them from sticking together.
  • Refrigerate: Place the wrapped flatbread in an airtight container or a resealable plastic bag. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. When you’re ready to enjoy, you can eat it cold or reheat it in the oven or microwave until warmed through.
  • Freezer: If you’d like to store the flatbread for a longer period, you can freeze it. After wrapping as described above, place the flatbread in a freezer-safe bag or container. It can be frozen for up to 2-3 months. To use, thaw the flatbread in the refrigerator overnight and reheat as desired.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Use A Different Type Of Cheese Instead Of Parmesan?

Yes! Parmesan adds a nutty, salty flavor, but you can substitute it with other hard cheeses like Pecorino Romano, Asiago, or even grated cheddar or mozzarella if you prefer a milder flavor. Keep in mind that the texture might slightly change depending on the cheese you choose.

Can I Make The Flatbread Thicker Or Thinner?

Yes! If you prefer a thicker flatbread, just spread the mixture a little less evenly on the baking sheet. For a thinner and crispier flatbread, spread it as thin as possible. You’ll need to adjust the baking time based on thickness: thicker flatbreads will require longer baking (around 40 minutes), while thinner ones will bake in about 30 minutes.

Can I Prepare The Wraps Ahead Of Time?

Yes, you can prep the flatbread ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. For filled wraps, you can assemble them and store them in the fridge, but it’s best to eat them within 1-2 days. For meal prep, you can store the flatbread and fillings separately, then assemble the wraps the night before or in the morning.

  1. I am lactose intolerant, and have to eat Lactaid cottage cheese. Could I use that, or does it have to be full fat cottage cheese?

    1. Absolutely! Lactaid cottage cheese should work just fine. If it’s lower in fat, the texture might be a little different, but it won’t affect the overall result too much. Give it a try!

    1. You only need 1 cup of full-fat cottage cheese for the wrap recipe, which is roughly half of a standard 500g tub depending on the brand.
