easy korean beef

It’s one of my go-to keto ground beef recipes because it’s incredibly easy to make and always turns out delicious. While traditional Korean beef is made with flank steak, using ground beef makes this version faster, more affordable, and just as satisfying.

The flavor is the best part. It’s slightly sweet, perfectly savory, and has a subtle kick of heat. As the beef cooks, it develops those irresistible crispy edges that make every bite extra good.

Serve it over cauliflower rice for a complete keto meal, or pair it with steamed broccoli for something simple and nourishing. It’s also perfect for lettuce wraps if you want a lighter option.

I have a feeling this easy Korean beef recipe will quickly become a regular in your meal rotation.

Ingredients For Keto Korean Beef

This Keto Korean Beef recipe comes together with just a handful of simple ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen. You’ll find the exact measurements in the recipe card below, but here’s a quick overview of what you’ll need:

  • Ground Beef – I usually use lean ground beef, but this recipe also works great with ground chicken or turkey if you want a lighter option.
  • Brown Sugar Replacement – Adds a touch of sweetness to balance the soy sauce. Use your favorite low-carb sweetener, or swap with regular brown sugar if you’re not following a keto diet.
  • Soy Sauce – I recommend reduced-sodium soy sauce to keep the flavors balanced. For a gluten-free option, use coconut aminos or tamari.
  • Garlic – Fresh garlic gives the best flavor, but garlic powder works in a pinch.
  • Sesame Oil – This adds that signature Korean-inspired flavor, so try not to skip it.
  • Red Pepper Flakes – Adjust to taste depending on how spicy you like it. You can also use a little sriracha for extra heat.
  • Ground Ginger – Adds warmth and depth. Fresh ginger works beautifully if you have it on hand.

For garnish:

  • Chopped green onions
  • Sesame seeds

How To Make Keto Korean Beef (Step-by-Step)

This Keto Korean Beef comes together in just a few simple steps and is perfect for busy days when you need something quick and satisfying.

I actually make this recipe all the time for meal prep. I usually cook a double batch because it reheats really well and makes the next few days so much easier.

1. Prepare the Cauliflower Rice

Start by making your cauliflower rice if you’re serving it with this dish. You can either make it at home or use store-bought (fresh or frozen). Both work great.

If using frozen cauliflower rice, keep in mind it may need a few extra minutes to cook.

2. Cook the Beef

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.

Stir in the garlic and cook for about 1 minute, just until fragrant.

3. Add the Sauce

Pour the prepared soy sauce mixture over the beef. Stir well to coat the meat evenly and let it cook for another 3 to 5 minutes, until the sauce slightly thickens and the beef gets those delicious crispy edges.

4. Serve

Serve the beef over cauliflower rice or with your favorite side. Spoon extra sauce over the top for even more flavor and finish with green onions and sesame seeds.

My Best Meal Prep Tips

This Keto Korean Beef is perfect for meal prep and honestly, it’s one of the recipes I make on repeat during busy weeks. I almost always double the batch because it stores so well and saves me so much time later.

  • Make ahead: Cook a larger batch and store it in airtight containers for easy lunches or dinners
  • Fridge: Keeps well for up to 4 days and the flavors get even better over time
  • Reheat: Warm it in a skillet or microwave until heated through
  • Serving ideas: Pair with fresh cauliflower rice, steamed broccoli, or lettuce wraps for a quick low-carb meal

If you’re trying to stay on track with low-carb eating, having this ready in the fridge makes things so much easier.

What To Serve With Keto Korean Beef

This Keto Korean Beef is delicious on its own, but pairing it with the right sides makes it a complete and satisfying low-carb meal.

Here are some of my favorite options:

  • Cauliflower Rice – the classic base that soaks up all that flavorful sauce
  • Zucchini Noodles – light, fresh, and perfect if you want something a bit different
  • Cauliflower Mashed Potatoes – creamy and extra comforting
  • Steamed or sautéed broccoli – simple, nutritious, and always a great match
  • Sliced Avocado – adds a creamy texture that balances the savory beef
  • Scrambled Eggs – perfect if you want to turn this into a more filling bowl
  • Pico de Gallo – adds a fresh, bright contrast to the rich flavors

If you want to switch things up a bit, you can also try:

  • wrapping it in lettuce leaves for a quick low-carb lunch
  • adding a simple cucumber salad on the side for something fresh
  • serving it with shirataki noodles if you’re craving a noodle bowl

I usually go for cauliflower rice and a side of broccoli, especially when I’m meal prepping. It keeps things simple but still really satisfying.

Very good. I made with real brown sugar (per author recommendation) as I did not have the substitute. So it wasn’t “keto friendly”. I would recommend using half the amount of actual sugar, so 1/8 cup. Otherwise followed recipe as is. I made lettuce cups with it and added some shredded carrots and red pepper for toppings.
