Ingredients for The Perfect Creamy Garlic Shrimp with Parmesan
You’ll be amazed to discover that you can prepare a highly delicious creamy garlic shrimp with parmesan with just a few simple ingredients that will surprise everyone.
- Olive oil – you may cook shrimp in different oils if you like. I prefer to use olive oil because it’s delicious and cooks up nicely.
- Shrimps – Make sure the shrimp have been peeled, deveined, and the tails have been removed before cooking. Also, you can use fresh or frozen shrimp. Just make sure you thaw the shrimp completely before cooking.
- Butter – you need to use unsalted butter. Using butter will enhance the flavor of the meal.
- Garlic – when it comes to cooking shrimps, you can’t go wrong with adding some yummy garlic.
- White Wine – when you mix the right wine with a creant sauce, you create a fantastic flavor combination. Replace with chicken broth if you don’t want to use wine.
- Cream– Heavy cream is the best option because it’s high in fat and makes the sauce incredibly creamy. Full fat is a better option than light low fat cream, but you can use them too.
- Parmesan Cheese – works as a sauce thickener, and it also adds incredible flavor.
- Salt&Pepper – Simply season with salt and pepper to taste.
How to Make Creamy Garlic Shrimp
Following just simple and easy steps, you will end up with the perfect dish that will surprise everyone.
- Start by pouring the olive oil into a skillet over medium heat. After the pan is hot, add the shrimps and season with salt and pepper to taste. Sear them for about 1 minute on each side, until just pink, and transfer them to a bowl.
- In the same skillet, start making the garlic parmesan sauce by adding butter. When the butter has melted, cook the minced garlic for a few seconds, making sure it doesn’t burn. Pour in the white wine and rasp off any browned pieces from the bottom of the pan.
- Reduce heat to medium-low heat, then add the cream and allow to simmer, stirring occasionally. Add the parmesan cheese and simmer until the parmesan cheese has melted and the sauce has thickened to your flavor.
- Return the shrimp to the skillet, coat thoroughly, and generously top with fresh parsley. Enjoy while it’s still hot!
Can I Use Frozen Shrimps?
Yes, fresh shrimps can be easily replaced with frozen ones. It only has to be thawed completely in cold water. It will defrost in around 15 minutes. You mustn’t attempt to defrost the shrimp in warm or hot water.
What Type of Wine Should I use?
To go with this, I chose a glass of white wine. A mild Chardonnay is a great match. You might pick a Sparkling Moscato for a sweeter taste.
Tips for Making The Best Creamy Garlic Shrimp with Parmesan
- If you want to use salted butter, I recommend being careful with the salt because the sauce will get salted from the parmesan too.
- Look for fresh shrimp. Frozen shrimp is OK, but fresh shrimp will always taste better.
- Make sure the shrimp do not overcook. They cook fast, and even after you remove them from the heat, they will continue to cook in the creamy sauce.
How to Devein Shrimps
- Peeling the shrimp before or after cooking is a personal preference. Many chefs believe that leaving the shell on the shrimp while cooking enhances the flavor since the shell retains the fluids in and is flavorful.. However, some people prefer to peel the shrimp before cooking so that the final meal is easier to enjoy.
- Pull off the head – The head of the shrimp is sometimes still attached. That is the very first thing you should do. If you like, you may also cut it off.
- Pull off the legs – Take them in your fingers and pull them off in bunches. They should simply detach from the body.
- Remove the shell – Start at the top end move your fingers below the shell. Try to remove it from the body in one piece by gently pulling it away.
- Leave the tail on or off – it’s your choice – some cooks like how the tails look in the finished preparation, while others prefer to eliminate it.
Here is one exciting thing: Save the shells. Why? Because you can make a delicious shrimp stock, which is a delightful base for shrimp bisque or other seafood soups. Just put them in a freezer pack and save them for when you need to make shrimp stock.

Sounds yummy! Perhaps I missed something, but at what point do I add the garlic and the butter to the recipe?
You’re right, somehow I missed one step when writing the recipe. Sorry for the inconvenience. To make the sauce you need to melt the butter in the same pan, then cook the garlic for a few seconds. I updated the recipe instructions!
