Ingredients

Another great thing about this recipe is that it’s made using only a few easy-to-find ingredients you probably already have in your pantry. Here is a list of everything you will need:

BLT Salad Recipe Ingredients
  • Cooked Bacon – is one of my favorite ingredients in this recipe since it gives that crunchy and delicious smoky flavor.
  • Tomatoes – You can use any tomatoes; for example, I used cherry tomatoes, but you can also replace them with Roma tomatoes.
  • Red Onion – you can also use yellow onion if you don’t have any red ones.
  • Lettuce – I used romaine, but feel free to use any lettuce you like. Iceberg lettuce also can be used.

BLT Salad Dressing

  • Mayo – I used full fat because it is thick and creamy.
  • Sour Cream – adds a tangy and creamy flavor to the dressing.
  • Garlic – use fresh minced garlic for an intense and delicious flavor.
  • Milk – helps the sauce to thin out and reach the right consistency.
  • Salt&Pepper – to taste.

How To Make BLT Salad

Making this easy BLT salad recipe is extremely easy since there’s no cooking involved except the bacon. Here are the instructions that you have to follow:

Cook The Bacon

Start by cooking the bacon in a skillet, air fryer, or oven until crispy. I like using this method to obtain perfectly crispy bacon in less than 20 minutes.

Make The Dressing

Meantime prepare the dressing. Add all the ingredients to a large mixing bowl and whisk until well combined.

Cover with plastic foil and let it rest in the fridge while making the salad to enhance the flavors.

Prepare The Vegetables

Remove any wilted outer leaves from the lettuce, then chop it and prepare the rest of the ingredients.

Assemble The BLT Salad

Add the chopped romaine lettuce to a bowl, then add the rest of the ingredients on top of it.

Pour the BLT dressing over the salad and toss to combine.

BLT Salad Recipe Variations

  • Chicken BLT Salad: Top the salad with some pan-seared chicken for an extra protein boost.
  • Egg BLT Salad: Hard-boiled eggs are a great addition to the salad and add some extra protein and creaminess.
  • Caesar BLT Salad: Replace the creamy dressing with a classic Caesar dressing for the best flavor.
  • Vegan BLT Salad: Use vegan bacon and a plant-based dressing to make this salad vegan-friendly.
  • Cobb BLT Salad: Add some blue cheese, chopped avocado, and hard-boiled eggs for a delicious Cobb salad twist on the traditional BLT salad.
  • Mediterranean BLT Salad: Add olives, feta cheese, and a lemony dressing for a Mediterranean-inspired twist on the classic salad.

Storing Ideas

If you have any leftover BLT salad, it’s best to store it properly to preserve its texture and flavor. I recommend not keeping it for more than a day or two since the ingredients will become soggy and lose their texture and taste.

To store this salad, place it in an airtight container and store it in the fridge for 2-3 days.

However, it’s important to note that the salad dressing can cause the lettuce to wilt and become mushy over time, so it’s best to keep the dressing separate and add it just before serving.
