Ingredients You’ll Need
Another great thing about this recipe is that it requires just a few inexpensive and accessible ingredients, making it both budget-friendly and easy to prepare. You don’t need to hunt down any specialty items—everything you need is likely already in your pantry or easily found at your local grocery store.
Here’s a note on the ingredients:
- Chicken Breast – This casserole is incredibly versatile when it comes to the chicken. You can use leftover baked chicken breast, Instant pot chicken breast, air fryer whole chicken, or even pan-seared chicken. If you’re short on time, picking up a rotisserie chicken and shredding it is a quick and convenient option.
- Bacon – I’m a huge fan of oven-baked bacon for this recipe. It adds that perfect crunch and a delicious smoky flavor that really takes the dish to the next level.
- Garlic Cloves – Fresh garlic is the best choice for this recipe, providing the most robust flavor. If you’re in a hurry, you can use garlic powder or minced garlic from a jar as a substitute.
- Broccoli Florets – Broccoli pairs so well with the chicken and cheese here. You can use fresh or frozen broccoli, but just make sure to defrost it if you’re going the frozen route. And hey, if broccoli isn’t your thing, cauliflower or green beans are great alternatives.
- Cheddar and Mozzarella Cheese – The combination of cheddar and mozzarella cheese is mouthwatering. But don’t be afraid to mix it up—Pepper Jack, Gouda, or Fontina would all be amazing too.
- Ranch Dressing – You’ll need a thicker dressing for the best results. Use my homemade ranch dressing, but the store-bought ranch is just as delicious. And if you’re trying to keep things a bit lighter, Greek yogurt mixed with herbs and spices is a great alternative.

How To Make Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole
This cheesy chicken bacon ranch casserole is super easy to make in just a few easy steps:
Step 1: Cook the Bacon
Let’s get started by cooking up some crispy bacon, either in the oven or on the stovetop. This will add that delicious crunch and smoky flavor to our casserole.
Step 2: Prepare the Broccoli
While the bacon is sizzling away, take some fresh broccoli and chop it into bite-sized florets. Give them a quick blanch in boiling water for a few minutes—they’ll continue cooking in the oven, so don’t overdo it.
Step 3: Cook the Chicken
Now, onto the chicken! My go-to method is to season it with some flavorful chicken seasoning and bake it in the oven until it’s juicy and golden brown. Once it’s done, let it cool slightly, then slice it into cubes and set it aside.
Step 4: Assemble the Casserole
Time to put it all together! In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked chicken, blanched broccoli, ranch dressing (or homemade keto ranch dressing if you prefer), mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, and our crispy, chopped bacon. Stir everything together until well mixed, then sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese and bacon on top.

Step 5: Bake to Perfection
Slide the casserole into the oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes. The cheese will melt into a golden, bubbly top, making the casserole irresistible.
Tips For Making Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole
- Use up those chicken leftovers! If you have leftover air fryer whole chicken, it’s a great way to repurpose it in this casserole. Simply shred or dice the chicken and use it as the base protein.
- You can add some cauliflower florets. To add some extra texture and low-carb goodness, consider adding cauliflower florets to the casserole.
- Season to taste with salt and pepper, but you have to keep in mind that ranch seasoning is already salty.
- Ensure that you don’t overbake the casserole because the chicken will dry out, and the vegetables will soften too much.
- Feel free to personalize your Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole by adding other low-carb ingredients such as diced bell peppers, sliced mushrooms, or even a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese on top.
- Garnish with fresh herbs such as chopped parsley or chives.

Can I Make This Recipe Ahead Of Time?
Sure, you can make chicken bacon ranch casserole ahead. Prepare all the ingredients and assemble the casserole ahead of time.
Then you have a few options:
- Wrap well with plastic foil and freeze for a few months.
- Bake the casserole from frozen, or allow it to thaw overnight. Stir well before baking a delicious and nutritious meal.

What to Serve with Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole
This is a super creamy and rich casserole that I prefer serving on its own or enjoying with a lighter side, such as roasted asparagus, air fryer asparagus, or whole roasted cauliflower.
Storing Instructions
- Fridge: If there are any keto chicken casserole leftovers, store them in the fridge in an airtight container for five days.
- Freezer: You can also freeze the leftovers in an airtight freezer-safe container for one month. Defrost overnight in the refrigerator before reheating in the oven.
